Meet the 45th Ward Mom – Michelle Baert
Michelle Baert is a proud Chicago resident, living in the 45th Ward with her husband and their three young boys, who attend Beaubien Elementary School and Our Lady of Victory, for the last 13 years.
She serves on the board of Variety – The Children’s Charity, where she has spent over 20 years advocating and leading programs to help children with special needs and disabilities. Recently, Michelle led a partnership between Variety and the Chicago Park District —offering adaptive sports camps for children with disabilities in Chicago.
Michelle served on the Beaubien Elementary Local School Council (LSC) and volunteers for the school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
After graduating Purdue University with a B.A. in communications, Michelle spent several years in Los Angeles with her last job as a marketing executive for 20th Century Fox Films – leading marketing efforts throughout North America.
She came back to Chicago as a director for American Cinema Advertising Network – the pioneering company creating what we know today as onscreen digital advertising at the movie theaters. After, she started her own small business offering onscreen advertising for an independent theater chain.
As a service to residents in the area, Michelle publishes 45thWardMom.com. She recently completed the Chicago Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy.
