Students are led by experienced teaching artists. They work on songs & scenes from one of our current titles, and prepare for a final performance for friends & family in our PlayGround studio at 5342 West Lawrence Ave. KidStage is a great place to develop creativity, focus and self-confidence.  Students who enroll in James & the Giant Peach will also get a free ticket to see our professional production of the show (featuring some of our teachers!), which runs the entire month of October at our theatre.

YOUTHSTAGE:  SEPTEMBER thru DECEMBER | BEGINS SEPT 14 or 19

KIDSTAGE:  OCTOBER 27 thru MID-DECEMBER

YOUTHSTAGE is the new name of our music theatre performance programs for Grades sept9-53-8. These 13-15 week sessions provide our young performers with an intensive, professional music theatre experience. In the program, students learn basic theatre vocabulary and concepts, while developing intermediate- and advanced-level skills in acting, singing and dancing. Students are led by experienced teaching artists, who are great teachers and accomplished directors or choreographers. Every program also includes a team of designers, who bring the story to life with costumes, props, scenery and special effects.  The final product is a weekend or weekends of public, ticketed performances, which elevate the students’ experience and create a unique and exciting event for friends, family and our patrons who have come to expect excellence from our programs.  YouthStage programs non-auditioned program; casting takes place during week #1 and 2 of the program.  Each child is assigned a role or roles that fit them, that challenge them, and that ensure a positive and professional experience for the students and audience members.  We believe that, with the right challenge and support, all students can find a home in our programs and feel successful.

KIDSTAGE ‘ELF’ CLASSES begin in late October.  Students in these Pre-K, K-1 and 2nd Grade classes will receive a special invitation to a performance or dress rehearsal of the YouthStage fully produced production of ELF in December as inspiration for their work.  KIDSTAGE students can enroll in both “JAMES” and “ELF!”
